dream into reality

i heard a woman today say that last night when she went to bed she told her son about the dreams of MLK jr. today she said, they woke up to find that his dream had come true. mine too.

seeing the little dude sit in M’s lap as he softly translates what they are watching as the inauguration begins. i see my future opening up, there in Washington dc and here in my living room. hugging through tears, goose-bumps line our skin as we watch this incredible moment in time.

later as i walk through the airport on my way to NY i want to hug each kind stranger i see and say, can you believe it? are you so happy? are you just like me? different yet the same? are you my neighbor? are you a part of my community? yes, yes you are. and now is the time. now neighbor, we need each other. together we can make the changes we want to see. this is the place to start. right here, right now with your neighbors and in your neighborhood. and neighbor to neighbor and community to community this energy can grow. we can spread change.

todays words reminded us that the moment is now. these words belong to the man who brings change. yet we must let those words sink in to our hearts and minds and make them our own. for this day is the beginning and it will unfold before us as we choose our better history.
