winter solstice

solstice is a celebration of light. of the returning of the light as the days once again grow longer. as we step out of darkness, this is a time to release and leave behind what is no longer necessary or serving us in our lives. this is also a time to call and welcome into our lives something we seek.

here's a description of the ceremony i'll be taking part in tomorrow.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
when you arrive, go up to the studio where you will find an abundance (thanks to a tree that came down in the recent storm) of branches and greenery and twine. make yourself a bundle or swag from this bounty to hold your personal intention of release or welcoming. you are welcome to bring something to add to your bundle. sticks of sage will be available outside the studio for smudging if you wish. smudging is a wonderful way to clear your personal energy for this ceremony. you can smudge yourself, or i will be delighted to smudge you. when you finish making your bundle, in silence, walk the land to connect with the earth and focus your intention into your bundle. small flashlights or headlamps very helpful as you wander in the dark....so it's a good idea bring some. when you hear the drumming, gather up at the stone circle. I will bless you before you enter the circle from the North direction. the circle is easy to find...follow the path of lights, or look for the fire, or follow the sound of the drumming. we will be in sacred ceremony at the stone circle..and there will be a time for you to release your bundle into the fire. you are welcome to bring rattles or drums for the ceremony. after the ceremony, we will gather back at the studio for food.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
looking forward to welcoming the light within and without
