tangerine trees and marmalade skies

summer, ummm we're still waiting for it here in seattle. we've had some nice days, though a few randomly warm days in may does not make a summer. instead of sunny days, we are getting sunny nights. rain all day, then somewhere around 6:30, the sun comes out. fills my entire living room with a warm glow just as the little dude and i are getting ready for our night-time dance party. once his jammies are on, friends (aka stuffed animals) are chosen, music cued, we are ready to get our groove on. like a true dj, he has his favorite that he runs for a few weeks straight, so tonight i put on his latest favorite tune, only to have him hear the first 2 notes and quickly correct me, letting me know that tonight he wanted lucy and kaleidoscopes' song. he hands me lucy as my dancing partner while he rocks and sways with kaleidoscope.
sun beaming on us, our shadows shakin it on the kitchen floor and the beattles streaming through our space..."lucy in the sky with diamonds" is she in a plane mama? is she with the stars? it kills me that he already knows the song after only hearing it a 2 times... train mama, they said train...is it a diesel or a steam engine? he smiles with anticipation and whispers to kaleidoscope, here comes your part honey... "somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly, a girl with kaleidoscope eyes"...
