i realized today, that we have been painting since this began. i used to say "i like painting" but now that i'm doing it, a lot of it...i don't think like is quite the right word.
in december you painted your kitchen windowsills while i was home finger- painting
in january we painted your stairs with the little dude
in february we painted your bathroom
in march we painted your bedroom walls and the floor
in april you painted the second coat on the floors and on the walls
in may i painted my walls in the living room and the hallway and kitchen
in june i will paint the kitchen's 2nd coat, the rest of the hallway, entry way and definitely finish that one tiny wall in the bedroom and my grandmas chairs, i need to paint the chairs.
and if not before, in july...i might paint the new lounge in the upper loft.....
and then, i'm DONE. no more paint. seriously tired of rolling, trimming, the ladder, moving things here and there, cleaning up my splatter spills....so DONE....
unless i decide to repaint the kitchen walls that ummm...aren't exactly as i'd intended. damn it's hard to tell how a huge wall will look when those chips are so little!!!
turns out time alone and a lot of miles can motivate me to do something i'd been thinking about doing for months...years.
a little bit of color to distract the mind, the heart.

Oh my painting friend, how that splash of color has gotten us both through some rough times in our life. And through the best ones too.
Swapping swatches with a friend, reading the names like our favorite flowers, painting over colors gone bad, needing a fresh coat, a rebirth to cover our dents, scratches, bad decisions in life. I used to face the start of painting with such enthusiasm, now I find that I dread the effort.
But, alas, nothing passes the time, makes the biggest impact like painting. Great focus, greater reward. Stick with it.
Ooo, can't wait to see the new colors in the loft on Tues!
keep the orange that's my vote and don't forget the spray painting we did yesterday too :)
